Vaxx Card, Sick Sheet Scam Probe

Another alleged scam involving vaccination cards and sick sheets have surfaced.

On Monday last week, Police questioned several drivers from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services for their alleged involvement in a vaccination card and sick sheet scam.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that they were investigating an alleged fraud, and several drivers had been questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

It is understood that one of the drivers allegedly got hold of vaccination cards and a pre-signed sick sheet booklet, which he allegedly sold to people.

The drivers were questioned after a complainant produced evidence of the vaccination cards and sick sheet booklet to the authorities.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Other allegations

Last year, following investigations from the Ministry of Health, nurses in Labasa were suspended amid allegations of a vaccination card scam.

This includes incidents where one nurse was allegedly wasting a shot and marking people as vaccinated, and the vaccination cards allegedly issued.

In another alleged incident last year, a volunteer from a charity body and a Labasa Hospital nurse was issuing vaccination cards to people. These cases were referred to Police for investigation as well.
