Foods Pacific Sues Health Ministry

Foods (Pacific) PTE Limited has filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, alleging that it was incorrectly charged and suffered losses and damages as a result.
Foods (Pacific) PTE Limited was represented by Emmanuel Narayan of Patel Sharma Lawyers on Tuesday.
When the matter was called, the defendant was not present in court.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services had charged Foods Pacific for breaching Part V Section 24 (d) and Section 51 (1) (c) of the Food Safety Regulation 2009.
Foods Pacific argues that the allegation, which was later withdrawn by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, created the image and/or impression that ‘Tiffin whole milk powder’ was harmful to consume.
The plaintiff also claimed that the charge made people believe that the company was hiding and/or misleading the consumers on the ingredients and nutrients content of the ‘Tiffin whole milk powder’.
Foods Pacific seeks judgment in the sum of $25,710.60 including an order for general damages for the loss of income, embarrassment and inconvenience, public scandal, odium, and contempt.
Magistrate Waleen George adjourned the matter to March 11, 2022 for mention to fix a formal proof date.
