 Nagusa: Drua Have A Lot To Offer

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are taking on the Su­per Rugby Pacific challenge despite losing 42-3 to the Brumb­ies at the GIO Stadium, Canberra, Australia, on Saturday.

Drua captain Nemani Nagusa said they have got a lot to offer in the competition.

He was referring to a question by Stan Sport, Sera Naiqama, on the running style of winger Vinaya Habosi in the match, where accord­ing to ESPN stats, that he ran 108 metres while Brumbies full-back Tom Banks came in second with 86m.

Habosi also made 13 runs, two clean breaks with four defenders beaten.

“Yes, we still have other players like Habosi, who are yet to play,” Nagusa said.

Also, debutants Kaliopasi Ului­lakepa, Leone Rotuisolia and Napo­lioni Bolaca played well.

This Friday, the Drua host Mel­bourne Rebels at the Suncorp Sta­dium in Brisbane, Australia, at 8.45pm

Ratings:

  1. Kaliopasi Uluilakepa– A new en­vironment, but had a good debut.

He held his own in the scrum and was superb in general play. Twice lost the ball forward but still work in progress: 5

  1. Tevita Ikanivere- Showed im­provement in his performance but needs to keep working on his lin­eout throws: 5
  2. Samuela Tawake- Took on Wal­labies Test centurion, James Slip­per and had the upper hand. He has made the No.3 jersey his own: 6
  3. Isoa Nasilasila- Sound in de­fence and made the most number of tackles.
  4. Leone Rotuisolia- Aggressive and always in the thick of things.

Good debut and always commu­nicating with the rest of his team-mates: 6

  1. Vilive Miramira- A natural open­side flanker pushed to the blind­side. He needed time to adapt as the Brumbies exploited this area that led to Banks try: 5
  2. Kitione Salawa- Kitione is claiming the No.7 spot and he is fast adapting to the Super Rugby pace. -6
  3. Nemani Nagusa- Not at his usu­al best. Lost the ball four times to the opposition and it seemed a nig­gling injury was bothering him: 5
  4. Simione Kuruvoli- Very static and offers nothing new and has be­come predictable: 4
  5. Caleb Muntz- Very composed and did what was asked of him. He is always involved. Getting more game time will see him get better: 6
  6. Vinaya Habosi- Very danger­ous on attack but needs to work on his decision making especially when on defence.

Took wrong options in trying to run the ball from the back instead of kicking it out. This happened twice and the Brumbies capital­ised on it: 4

  1. Kalaveti Ravouvou- Has be­come matured in his game and did what was needed of him. Very elu­sive and tackled well: 5
  2. Apisalome Vota: Strong run­ner and twice broke through the Brumbies defence. Need to work on his defence: 6
  3. Onisi Ratave: Like Habosi, needs to make the right decision when on defence. Otherwise, he was good at general play: 4
  4. Baden Kerr: He should play at No.10 as he was out of position at fullback.

Missed tackles and provided no attacking thrust from the back: 3

Reserves

  1. Mesulame Dolokoto: Very con­sistent with his lineout throws, good attacking player but needs to be more aggressive. He should start against the Rebels: 6
  2. Timoci Sauvoli: Needs to work on his scrummaging: 4
  3. Manasa Saulo: The veteran led from the front when the tough got going: 6
  4. Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta: Very safe at the back of the scrum but needs to provide that much-needed thrust in the forward: 4
  5. Meli Derenalagi: N/A
  6. Joseva Tamani: N/A
  7. Peni Matawalu: He was the livewire in the Drua’s attacks and like Dolokoto should get the start against the Rebels: 6
  8. Napolioni Bolaca; Settling into the fifteens game, showed glimpse of what he can do with ball at hand.
