Trio Sheral Edwards, Loretta Kotoisuva and Elizabeth Moceiwai were crowned the new Women’s National Open Trips champions following their victory at the Suva Bowling Club on Sunday.

Sixteen men’s and six women’s teams took part of the $2500 Geo-tech Drilling sponsored two-day tournament that rounded off on Sunday.

Tournament organizer Martin Fong said the tournament was tough with national reps also competing.

“The competition has been intense with bowlers who are taking part in the Commonwealth Games competing in the two day tournament,” Fong said.

“It’s good to have some of the national reps playing in the tournament the competition was tough and exciting.

“We also had some new bowlers and our sponsors Geo-Tech Drilling has fielded a team.

“Overall Tournament was a success.

“The ladies was won by Sherly Edwards, Loretta Kotoisuva and Elizabeth Mocewai and the Men had to be share the prize money because of the heavy downpour we couldn’t continue. As per the conditions of play of bowls that we must give the teams the opportunity to complete the final another day but both teams came back and agreed to share the spoils.”
