2022 Fiji Fashion Show from May 21-28

The 15th Fiji Fashion Week will promise to be, yet again, a much-anticipated event this year when the industry’s best showcase their talents from May 21 to May 28.

At the launch at the Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday, Colgate-Palmolive (Fiji) Ltd proved their ongoing support with $75,000 sponsorship.

Also at the launch was the announcement of its brand ambassador, social media influencer and fashion lover, Evlyn Mani.

 

Additionally, the home of the 2022 Fiji Fashion Week will be the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Fiji Fashion Week managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight said with such as incredible journey the show has been: “15 years strong and in such fantastic shape.

“We stood firm in our conviction of being the Pacific’s premier fashion event.”

 

“And when the world and the global fashion industry changed with COVID that pandemic, we faced this head-on and made changes to our organisation and the way that we worked so that we could continue to support and develop designers at a time when they needed us most.”

“We can confidently say that we were one of the first if not the first fashion week to announce a move to virtual programming.”

“And this paid off big time, especially for the designers, because it was the first time that we knew that our designers during the virtual show attracted $200,000 in orders.

“And that in itself has just been an  absolute major achievement.”

 

Opportunities
The show has made leaps in its history in that there are now more support and development.

“These opportunities have made a huge impact on the economy, for designers, creating a creative talent and peripheral industries in Fiji and the region,” Ms Whippy-Knight said.

Colgate-Palmolive Fiji general manager Hiten Lal said the collaboration would provide the company with the opportunity to engage with consumers.

 

More potential for growth Ms Mani said: “There’s still a huge potential for the industry to grow and showcase our talent and creativity.”

“And I believe the key in realising this potential is in community recognition of the benefits that we have that we stand to gain.”

 

Future Of The Industry
Ms Whippy-Knight said Fiji Fashion Week, with the support of sponsors, designers and community, were invested in further growth.

“We see our path in terms of these five words and you can use these words interchangeably.”

“Sustain. Culture. Make. Future and Celebrate.”

 

“Sustain our culture, make our future and celebrate.”

“To celebrate the future of our industry.”

“We need to work on the understanding that everything we do will be sustainable for both the planet and our economy.”

“And that in doing so we will preserve our cultural heritage expressed in making fashion which in turn secures our future through earning our place in the global fashion industry.”
