The Rooster Fijiana Drua side’s sterling performances in their first two Super W matches have motivated the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua side to play better.

Speaking to Sunsports Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Mick Bryne said the Fijianas’ performances have set a benchmark for them to lift their performance.

“I believe when one team is performing well it motivates the others to lift their games,” Bryne said.

“This certainly helps when you turn to your games and you see them (Fijiana Drua) winning well on the field we are about to play in,” he said.

“It brings good feeling, the boys are certainly excited to see the way they (Fijiana Drua) were playing and the fact that they won over the Reds.

Bryne added the women’s performance gave the Fijian Drua confidence.

“It boosted the boys’ confidence, going into our games when we see our compatriots out there doing well against the opposition, especially when they are the same side that we are about to play,” he said

“Also the way the Fijiana Drua played and the tries they scored was exciting to watch.”

The Rooster Fijian performance lit a fire in the hearts of the Fijian Drua side lineup as they came out firing against the Queensland Reds scoring three tries in five minutes.

In their match last week Queensland Reds avoided one of the great Super Rugby boilovers, surviving an incredible Fijian Drua comeback to win 33-28.

The Reds were leading 28-9 with 18 minutes to play after scoring their fourth unanswered try, before three runaway five-pointers against a tiring defence turned Saturday’s game on its head.

There is no doubt the Fijiana Drua’s expensive style of rugby motivated not only the men but aspiring young Fijian girls back at home.

This weekend our Rooster Fijiana side will be once again play first before the Fijian Drua.

They face another giant of the Super W competition the Western Force who are give the Senirusi Seruvakula coached side a run for their money.

Let’s hope they remain consistent and continue to play their style of rugby that will motivate our men.
