The Nadi Rugby Union has secured a deal with Jack’s of Fiji for this year’s Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship that gets underway tomorrow.

Jack’s of Fiji marketing manager Biu Tadranu said yesterday it has been a long partnership between the two entities.

“This is my seventh year to be involved with Nadi Rugby in terms of financial assistance and our director continues to have faith in them,” Tadrau said.

“This year is the biggest as the women will now have their competition, as they have grown to be part of the sport.

“We need the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother Trophy as the commercial aspect of it is big and Jack’s of Fiji want to be part of it.”

He thanked Fiji Rugby and NRU for the unique logos on the jerseys.

“It is great to see some of our players who were part of the Nadi Rugby platform in the senior age group and Fijian Drua team.”

NRU sponsorship chairman, Sekove Tuilakeba said that more than $300,000 is needed to run the rugby season.

“We acknowledge Jack’s of Fiji for their involvement as without them it would be difficult to maintain our teams and competitions,” he said.

“The Nadi Rugby Union will not be run by vakavanua style, all stakeholders and club reps need to do their part.

“Nobody is above the Nadi Rugby Union. They need to trust our system. We have learnt a lot over the years. Many come in when we win but when we losethey disappear.”

Other sponsors on board for NRU include: Fiji Pine Limited, RedBrick Laundry, H20, Radisson Blu Resort, McDonald’s Fiji, and No.1 Foreign Currency.

Meanwhile, Tui Nadi, Ratu Vuniyani Navuniuci is the new patron of NRU, he replaces the late Tui Nawaka, Ratu Asaeli Driu.

In their season opener Nadi travel to the ANZ Stadium to face defending champions Suva, tomorrow at 3pm.
