Tomas Cama: No Place Like Fiji When It Comes To 7s

The Fiji Airways Fijian Men’s 7s team are in good hands with Ben Gollings as the head coach, says a former star playmaker.
Tomasi Cama Jnr, who is the All Blacks 7s assistant coach was at Churchill Park in Lautoka, where they participated in the Fun Flavour Fiji Rugby International Mini 7s tournament.
“I know they (Fijian 7s team) went to Dubai but there is a lot of expectation from the public and it won’t be long for the boys to know what is expected of them and they will come together,” he said.
“The players that left the Fiji team have won the Olympic Games gold medal and they have set the standard for these young players to go for.
“As they have new management and staff members, I’m sure it won’t take long for them to gel and find their rhythm again.”
Cama said Gollings was a dominant figure in the sevens rugby world.
“He is a classy player and Fiji is very lucky to have him to share his experience and knowledge on the game.”
“Gollings ran the game for England and they relied on him a lot.”
“He has set a world record in the World Sevens Series, which is a story in itself.”
Cama said for the All Blacks 7s team coming to play in Fiji was a must.
“Fiji is the best place to play the game.”
“We needed that exposure.”
“It is an opportunity for us to come here as the game is much loved here,” he added.
The competition continues today.
