International Guests Enjoy Holi Party

International guests joined in last weekend’s Holi celebrations at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.
The five-star resort’s general manager, Silvano Dressino, said it was overwhelming to be surrounded by international guests for the first time since the resort hosted the first ever Holi celebration party last year.
Over 300 guests booked into the resort for the occasion, he said.
“The last time, we had only local guests, because the international borders were closed; it was a very small party,” he said.
“This is also the reason to celebrate Holi, to bring traditional Fiji-Indian culture to our guests, from all over the world.
“I am very happy that tourism is back, as we can show our Bula spirit.”
He said the number of bookings at the resort this year looked positive.
“We are comparing our figures with that of 2019; we see a strong and fast recovery, thanks to all our stakeholders, including Fiji Airways,” Mr Dressino said.
“We had a great campaign with the Bula Bubble ,and we have been positively surprised with the fast recovery.”
More good news
More than 350 employees now work for the resort, Mr Dressino said.
The resort is expected to carry out another recruitment, he said.
“We could re-hire staff members we laid off during the COVID-19 period,” he said.
“It feels good to bring jobs back; that the mango sellers can now sell more mangoes to international guests.
“Fiji is benefitting from international guest arrivals.”
The Fiji Marriott will launch its training academy next month, he said.
“We are also launching the Fiji Marriott training academy to especially focus on our landowning communities,” Mr Dressino said.
“We launch that next month.”
