Labasa Women Regain

The in-form Labasa football women’s team have regained their top spot on the Digicel Women’s Super League points standing after defeating Nadroga 4-1 in their Round 2 clash last Saturday.
The Lady Lions have registered two wins in the new league season against Rewa and Nadroga with six points already in the bag and a goal average of plus nine.
Their arch and second-placed, Ba, have played a game less than the Northerners.
“Despite the side playing without their full-strength team, the younger players had the chance to step and prove their worth in the side by having exposure to quality game time,” coach Arthur Simmons said.

Simmons said the overall aim is to maintain this level of consistency heading into the season because every game was crucial as they build to lift initial women’s super league title this year.
“We have started strongly this season but we have another 13 matches to play before we can be crowned champions, so we have to perform well in each game,” he said.
The goalscorers were Joyce Kumar, Selai Nai, Viniana Simmons and Sofi Diyalowai. Adi Aqela Dangunu made her debut for the Babasiga Lady.
