Share Knowledge: Cotter

Flying Fijians head coach Vern Cotter believes that there is a great need to share rugby knowledge.
He made these remarks yesterday while attending the combined World Rugby Coach CPD (Continuous Professional Development) and Level 3 (Part 1) Course at the Tanoa Skylodge in Nadi.
The Programme was attended by more than 60 coaches including those involved with the Skipper Cup, Vanua, Marama and Ranadi competitions plus first term coaches at all levels on the local front.
“The key message is to enjoy coaching, enjoy changing people’s lives, making your teams and people better,” Cotter said.
“That’s key to it and then that’s the technical stuff, just about teaching players how to become more efficient on the paddock and some global ideas.
He said everyone needs to work hard also.
“We need to do more, sharing from top level to bottom to help coaches, giving them the resources they need, ideas to develop their players, so the players can be better,” he added.
“It’s a couple of things. We’re going to work on and look at trying to develop coaches and players so that we can have more competitions leading to the Skipper Cup and then grow from there.
Cotter commended the course saying it has been very good and well organized.
“Since it is the first time all these coaches are gathered together it’s all about sharing,” he said.
He admitted enjoying the excitement and companionship when he was questioned about his experiences and what he was doing with the Flying Fijians.
“It was a good open forum and I was pleased with the coaches who asked questions, so it was just nice to share rugby tips and information.”
