Be Cautious: Byrne Warns Drua

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne is cautioning his players to be more cautious with their offloading when they take on the Melbourne Rebels tonight.
“We have to be careful. We can lose the way we want to play if we are not careful,” Byrne said.
“It is more about understanding the game. Our game plan allows us to play the Fijian style.”
Byrne mentioned that the game scenario at training disappears when things heat up during the match.
He mentioned this after the Fijian Drua failed to make some crucial decisions during last week’s 18-20 loss to Western Force.
Heading into the match against the Melbourne Rebels tonight Byrne is optimistic about a good outing.
Speaking to SUNsports he said it was different situation all together.
“This comes back to the game scenarios at training. You can paint many pictures at training around one where we are two points up and eight minutes left before the final whistle – we have a scrum here, what are we going to do,” he said.
“Usually out there in the heat of battle you will experience it and some of those crucial decisions need to be made.
“You will expect to see that if you are chasing the game that is all the learning.
“When it is the first time we have that situation we have learnt from it.”
Like every other game the Fijian Drua carry out a review.
“Each time we are reviewing the game we’re getting into the smaller details of the game which is a good thing,” he said.
“That was our fifth game and we were obviously disappointed at the end of the game because we were up at the final siren then we lost it.
“A couple of times in those final phases I thought we could have gotten something but we didn’t and we gave them the three points.
“It was a disappointing way to finish the game.
“Our belief is getting stronger every week. We don’t want to change the way we play.
“It would have been nice to get a win against the Reds the week before and one last week to have three wins on the board.
“We are basing all our reviews around how we had performed and we are disappointed with some aspects of the game over the weekend.
“We do take positives out of the game where we are competitive and were in a position to win three games but we couldn’t.”
Meanwhile Kitione Taliga and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre are recovering from their injuries and have joined the players at training.
