Students from Year 1 to Year 13 in Ba, Tavua, Ra, Lautoka and the Yasawa Islands recently received their back-to-school supplies from the Fiji Water Foundation.

Ba Sanatan College Year 11 student, Altaaf Aiyaz is one of the first of 67000 students.

He said the donation would motivate him to do better in school and pursue his dream of becoming an architect in the future.

His father, Abdul Aiyaz said the timely donation had taken a lot of burden off his shoulders.

“I am the only one working in my family supporting my wife and only child,” he said.

“Since COVID-19 hit the country, I have only been able to do part time carpentry work and the little income of $100 weekly is not enough.”

Meanwhile, the initiative has been successful through the support of the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts.

The first handover took place at Xavier College in Ba on Saturday.
