Choose A Career You’re Passionate About: A-G tells Students

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum advised Baulevu High School students to choose a career they are passionate about.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum believed it was critical for students to know what they want to be when they grow up.
He said there were 5000 scholarships available for students who did not want to go to university, but instead wanted to do a TVET programme or vocational course.
“I would like to encourage students to pursue a career, profession, trade, or skill that you are passionate about. Don’t choose something your family chooses that you are not passionate about,” he said.
“The fundamental lesson in life is that when you pursue a career that you wholeheartedly want to pursue and are passionate about then you will excel in that profession.
“No job, no profession, no skill is less important than the other. Everybody is as important as the person next to them.”
School principal Vishnu Deo Sharma said that despite the 65 per cent pass rate in their Year 13 examination, the school recorded a 100 per cent pass in four subjects. The four subjects were Na Vosa Vakaviti, Hindi, Agriculture and Technical Drawing.
They received the excellence awards for teachers 100 per cent pass rate yesterday.
