On Stand-By

Fijian abattoir workers in Lismore, Australia, are on standby again to help their neighbours, as more rain causes flooding in the area.
We are the first people called when help is needed, and we are always ready to help, Fijian labourer Usaia Vitiliai said.
Mr Vitiliai is one of the 45 Fijians who are in Australia under the Pacific Labour Scheme. They helped evacuate residents from an age-care home in February.
“SAS has called us and informed us to be on standby in case the water rises and there is a need for people to be evacuated,” Mr Vitiliai said.
“Last night (Tuesday), we were contacted by a company to help take things from their storeroom to higher grounds.
Mr Vitiliai said people from Lismore were now more prepared compared to the flooding in February.
“It is good to see that there are some people who have already evacuated and took heed of the flood warning that was given throughout this week,” he said.
“The boys have prepared their raincoats, boots, and warm clothes, which they might need when we are called to help.”
According to 9NEWS, residents in low-lying parts of Lismore have been told to evacuate their homes as flash flooding threatens the area.
Meanwhile, ANZ Fiji were prepared to sponsor the 45 Fijians watch the next Drua game. However, the Fijian Drua have provided them free tickets for the Waratahs clash at the CBus Stadium tomorrow (Friday).
As an alternative, ANZ Fiji is ready to sponsor them to watch any other Fijian Drua Super Rugby match that will be held in Australia.
