Fiji rain view to street through rain-specked window

Radar and satellite observations show that some areas in the Western Division including Nabouwalu in Vanua Levu, received accumulated rainfall of 50 -70mm.

This was according to the Fiji Meteorological Service (Fiji Met).

The accumulated rainfall was recorded over a 24 hours period from 9am on Wednesday till 9am yesterday in the areas of Tavua, Rakiraki, Lautoka and Nabouwalu. Additionally, the Fiji Met said from 9am yesterday till 9am today, an accumulated rainfall of 30-100mm was expected to be received by areas in Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Korovou and Macuata and Cakaudrove provinces.

The weather office said that a flash flood warning alert remained in place for low-lying and flood-prone areas in Tavua through to Draunivi, Ra and Rakiraki including areas in Macuata and the Cakaudrove provinces, Lautoka, Ba and Rakiraki through to Korovou.
