New Driver, Taxi Missing, Owner Appeals to Public

Harish Chandra, the managing director of Regent Taxis Pte Limited, is appealing to the public for assistance in locating one of his taxis.
This is after a man named Vilikesa Nasivi, who he recently hired, drove his taxi LT1299 (R-19) and never returned last Thursday morning.
The missing taxi is a silver Toyota Fielder 121.
Mr Chandra stated that he had reported the incident to the Police.
“I have been calling him and his phone has been diverted. I called the number that is in the emergency contact, and we were told that they did not know of Vilikesa’s whereabouts,” Mr Chandra said.
Mr Chandra claimed that the driver was sighted watching the games in Naitasiri on Saturday.
“We visited the Sawani Police Station and informed them to cease the taxi if they see him. We suspect that he is using and abusing the taxi.”
Mr Chandra said this was not the first time that something like this had happened.
“This has happened before, but we always get the taxi after one or two days and most of the time it was abandoned somewhere,” Mr Chandra said.
He went on to say that because of the incident, the company’s recruitment procedure would be more stringent.
This would include obtaining a Police clearance to visit the candidate’s home and acquire a bill rather than relying on references.
Regent Taxis Pte Limited is a taxi company with 46 vehicles.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the taxi operator had filed an official complaint with them.
