Redeveloped Ratu Sukuna Park Features Modern Café Overlooking Suva Harbour

The redevelopment of the iconic Ratu Sukuna Park will feature a modern café with a rooftop overlooking the Suva harbour.
The Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Permanent Secretary Shaheen Ali revealed this in a tweet on Saturday.
Mr Ali said the park was undergoing a major upgrade and would feature a multipurpose state of the art podium and a modern café with a rooftop open space overlooking the Suva harbour.
He added that to ensure the safety of all park users, the revamped park would also include Wi-Fi connectivity and CCTV surveillance.
In an earlier interview, Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar said the trees at the park would be preserved and maintained.
She assured that the Suva City Council (SCC) employed a professional arborist to ensure that the heritage of the park, which rests in its historic trees, was preserved.
Ms Kumar also said that the park would have electronic charging docks for mobile devices.
The redevelopment is expected to cost $1.5 million after all works are completed.
Questions sent to the SCC on the expected timeline of the project remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
