The Tailevu rugby team face their biggest test when they host Naitasiri in their Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship clash, this Saturday.

The Samisoni Baikeitoga coached Tailevu side are on a high after recording wins over Ram Sami Suva and Rewa.

Naitasiri are the INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother Trophy holders and have remained unbeaten in the competition.

Baikeitoga said they need to adhere their game tactics if they want to defeat the Farebrother Trophy holders.

“I have told the boys and supporters to rally behind us,” he said.

“This is a young team and I’m proud of what they have done.”

“We will be hosting Naitasiri and we just have to stick to our game plan and the result will come out.”

“We will go back to the drawing board, knowing Naitasiri is a champion side and come Saturday we should be ready for them.”

The no-nonsense coach highlighted that they need to work on their discipline after one of their players got a yellow card against Rewa.

“We will work on that.”

“Also I thank the vanua, and people of Lomainasau and the Tailevu fans for being there for us.”

$$$ Support
Meanwhile, the unbeaten Jack’s Nadi rugby side have been boosted with a $20,000 sponsorship.

For the first time the Fiji Pine Limited has stepped forward to back the Nadi Rugby Union.

The deal was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties.

Fiji Pine Chief Executive Officer Vimlesh Kumar said the sponsorship is to financially support the Nadi Rugby team and the landowning units of Nadi and Nabou Forests.

He acknowledged Nadi Rugby executives for approaching them to be one of their sponsors.

“We have ensured this engagement is purely for rugby and our landowning units.”

“This will benefit many Fijians,” Kumar said.

“Fiji Pine’s existence is through its landowners and the Nadi Rugby Union is an integral part of them.”

“The company has witnessed the enormous growth of Nadi Rugby since its tenure as they have continued to develop and nurture our very own rugby people.”

“That also includes our landowners who got the privilege to embrace opportunities to make their identities, attain employment and secure international rugby contracts for a better future.”

NRU secretary Ilimeleki Navula thanked Fiji Pine for the kind gesture.

“Fiji Pine is one of the organisations that enormously contributes to the Fijian economy with the aim to support the landowners and fellow Fijians for a better future,” he said.

Navula said the fund allocated would financially support their five teams (three men’s teams and two women’s teams that are competing
in the Skipper and Marama competitions).
