Footage Shows Security Officer Stole From Nightclub

A 26-year-old man has admitted that he stole alcohol, cigarettes and some cash- all amounting to $745.25 from Pontoon nightclub because he was not paid enough.
Martino Yavubula, a security officer of the club appeared before Magistrate Bimsara Jagodage at the Magistrate Court in Labasa.
Prosecutor Sergeant Vignesh Prasad said that on March 31, 2022, around 5am the accused broke in and entered the club with intention to commit theft on the property of Saif Maqtadeer, manager of Pontoon Nigh Club.
He said the owner watched a review of its security camera footage and saw the accused enter through the back of the club and stole, one carton Fiji Gold, two carton Fiji Gold stubbies, fifteen packets of BHlO, a bottle of Jim Beam and cash amounting to $296.
The security officer was arrested and charged for theft and burglary.
He admitted to the facts read in court and pleaded guilty.
He was further remanded in custody because he has a pending case before the Magistrate Court in Labasa.
The case has been adjourned to April 11.
