Tension At Nadi, Namaka Markets

Unvaccinated market vendors selling at Nadi and Namaka markets will be removed, says Nadi Town Council.
Nadi Market Vendors Association assistant president, Adi Bale Kurunavanua, said it was an unjust situation that unvaccinated vendors were allowed to sell in the market.
“This is unfair to most of us. It is creating a lot of tension among the vendors.
Ms Kurunavanua said the committee has raised the issue with the market master and the Nadi Town Council, chief executive officer, Muni Reddy.
Mr Reddy yesterday said that it was part of the occupational health and safety policy and the act was clear that unvaccinated vendors were not allowed to sell in the market.
“We are taking them out,” he said.
“This is a delicate issue. This happens usually on Friday and Saturdays when the farmers come.”
He said Police would be checking the vendors’ vaccination status.
