Save the Children Fiji has handed over 812 school bag kits to the Ministry of Education.

A total of 654 school bag kits were for primary school students while 158 were for secondary school students.

Save the Children Fiji’s chief executive officer, Shairana Ali, said: “Education is key, a strategic priority and a goal for Save the Children within the 2022 to 2024 strategic plan and it’s also part of Save the Children International’s Global strategy for the period 2022 to 2024.

“We see it as something that will benefit children and will also help children achieve their ambitions.

“Save the Children’s partnership with the Ministry of Education is very important because it allows the organisation to reach those who are in genuine need.”

Permanent Secretary for Education, Heritage and Arts Anjeela Jokhan acknowledged Save the Children Fiji for its continuous support.

“Your support has always been meaningful to us,” she said.

“The kind of support that many organisations and individuals have given over the past years demonstrates to all that education is important to everyone.”
