1072 Students Apply For Y12 And Y13 Remarking: Jokhan

One thousand and seventy-two students who sat for the Year 12 and Year 13 external exams this year have applied for a remark of their papers.
This was confirmed by Permanent Secretary for Education, Arts and Heritage, Anjeela Jokhan, on Thursday.
She said another 537 students had also applied for a recount of their external papers.
Ms Jokhan said they do understand some students might not be satisfied with the marks they attained, so the remarking and recount process allowed them to get another opportunity to validate their results.
She said student preparations for the external examinations had been difficult this year considering the long closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the closure of schools, online studies became a common medium of teaching and learning from the traditional face to face classroom sessions.
Ms Jokhan said students who had failed the exam marginally could come forward and get their marks recounted.
Meanwhile, the closing date for the recount and remark process of Year 13 papers is April 15, while for Year 12, the closing date is May 15.
She encouraged students who failed their exams to enroll and opt to venture into courses from tertiary institutions if they met the criteria.
“Students who failed, can repeat and do well next time around,” she said.
The recount fee per subject is $5 and it takes three working days to process the results while the remarking of papers per subject cost $25.
The remarking process took five working days.
Moreover, the new school term for all students starts on Monday.
A total of 12,195 students sat for the Year 12 exams while 8123 sat for their Year 13 exams.
