According to an Asian Development Bank (ADB) report, 99.1 per cent of Fijian women can read and write.
Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Jennifer Poole believes Fiji has what it takes to have 100 per cent of Fijian women to read and write.
Ms Poole said they were pleased with the statistic as it showed that Fijian women could make great contributions in all spheres of their professional and public life.
“This shows how women are educated, they are literate and how they can be part of the workforce.”
Ms Poole said it was important to continue to empower women in Fiji.
