Kamikamica Is The People Alliance Party’s First Deputy Party Leader, 2 More To Be Announced

The People’s Alliance Party is expected to announce two more deputy party leaders in coming weeks, says newly appointed party member Manoa Kamikamica.
On Saturday night, Mr Kamikamica was appointed as the first deputy party leader during a dinner gathering with party leader Sitiveni Rabuka at the Bohai Restaurant in Nadi.
Mr Rabuka had revealed the appointment of Mr Kamikamica, a chartered accountant and Dravo, Tailevu native following the Party’s Executive Council meeting.
Mr Kamikamica said the gathering was not about him but more about the people.
He said he was honoured and accepted the responsibilities with humility.
“I assure you that I will do my best to make sure we win the next general election.”
Mr Kamikamica said PAP was the only party that has an official deputy party leader compared to other political parties,
“Two more party leaders may be appointed and that gives everyone assurance that the People’s Alliance is not only for today, it’s for the next 50 years.”
Candidates
In terms of candidates, Mr Kamikamica said the caliber of candidates that they have started to see gives them great hope.
Mr Rabuka also revealed that the Party would soon announce candidates that would contest the 2022 General Elections.
He said they had a powerful fleet of young people, men and women of very high calibre who had applied to get a ticket under the People’s Alliance banner.
He added that the party executives have taken part in the first stage of their candidate selection process.
Mr Kamikamica’s background:
Mr Kamikamica, 55, is married to Ann Steele Kamikamica, who works in Papua New Guinea and has a daughter, AnnMarie.
Mr Kamikamica resigned last month as Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of Lyndhurst Group of Companies to work as a full-time volunteer for the Party.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and information systems from the University of New South Wales in Australia.
His professional career has seen him take up executive roles with leading companies in Fiji and the Pacific region over the last 32 year which includes Price Waterhouse in Suva and Sydney, Air Pacific Limited in Nadi, Australia New Zealand Bank in Papua New Guinea and Tonga, and the Lyndhurst Group in Kalabu Tax-Free Zone in Nasinu.
He rejoined his work with his village development committee, the Queen Victoria School Old Boys network, and the Tailevu Province’s Think Tank on his return to Fiji in 2019.
