The executives of the newly established Mid-Central Nadi Volleyball Association are planning to host a volleyball festival in June.

Association president Jerry Cakau said he was impressed with the level of competition during the two-day tournament.

“We are working on a volleyball festival. I would say that there were teams that have showed interest even from the North and we will include them in the next one,” he said.

Cakau said it is time to give back to the community.

“Where I am today is all because of the sport of volleyball.

“Although I’m based in Australia but my heart is at home with the Fijian fraternity.

“We need to emphasise that discipline is a must while in the court.”

He added that they would involve a few categories by introducing the Under-17 boys and girls, Masters for the women and U19 for the girls.

“We are introducing the new categories.

“I am talking to the Nadi Basketball Association and Nadi Touch Rugby so we could stage our games side by side in the future.

“It’ll be something like a sports festival.

“I will involve them so that we can work together as a committee to run the festival. In the coming days I will forward them my proposal.”

The association will hold their annual general meeting at the Hexagon Hotel in Nadi at 6pm today.
