Babi Cook of Australian is happy that the quarantine requirement of a minimum three-night stay at a Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) registered hotel is lifted.

Ms Cook and her daughter Tarah, arrived here last Friday for a 10-day stay and will spend most of their Easter holidays with their Fijian family in Maqalevu Village, Nadi.

The lifting of the restrictions is now effective following the Government’s 2021-2022 Revised Budget announcement last month in Parliament.

“We were so excited to meet our Fijian family here at the airport upon arrival. The ease of restrictions will enable us to spend more time here with our Fijian family,” Ms Cook said.

Michael Cook, who came with his siblings to greet their Australian family at the airport, said it was a rewarding experience to wait at the airport for their families.

During the restriction period, families here had to wait at home for their visiting loved ones, after completing the required three-day quarantine.

Prasneel Kumar, who was at the arrival lounge to greet his mother, Shashi Lata, said: “My mother has been away studying in Australia for months. When I heard that the protocols were lifted, I just couldn’t wait to travel from Suva and meet my mother here.”

Meanwhile, Ms Lata had no idea that Fiji had lifted its restrictions, but she was pleased to meet her son at the airport.

Multi Property vice president Neeraj Chadha praised the lifting of the three-day quarantine requirement, saying it was a good move.

“It will only make it easier for guests to travel in peace. The message is clear: when you come to Fiji, you have hassle-free and containment-free travel,” he said.

Lillie rates Fiji as a favourite school holiday destination

Fiji is one of many favourite school holiday destinations for Lillie Roberts.

This week, visitors from Australia flooded the Nadi International Airport. Parents and their children, who spoke with the Fiji Sun, expressed their excitement about coming to Fiji to spend their holidays.

For 17-year-old Lillie, her last holiday visit here was in 2019.

“It is good to be back here. Fiji is one of my favorite’s school holiday destinations and I enjoy coming here with my family,” he said.

Her mother, Danielle Roberts, said they would spend a one-week holiday here.

“We excited to be back here in Fiji. After the travel ban had been lifted, we couldn’t wait to arrange for our holidays here in Fiji,” she said.

“We are also grateful to be told that the three-night stay at Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) Certified hotel for quarantine purposes has been lifted.

“So, it is going to be an exciting holiday for us visiting our favourite places in Fiji,” she added.

The Tionville siblings, who are here too with their parents, are looking forward to an exciting Fijian holiday experience.

Meanwhile, Fiji Airways executive manager operations control, Shalendra Maharaj, said he could see the confidence of tourists coming back to enjoy their holidays in Fiji after the lifting of three-day hotel isolation was announced.
