Drivers can now apply for Police Clearance at any Land Transport Authority (LTA) offices around the country.

This was made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between LTA and the Fiji Police Force yesterday.

LTA board chairperson, James Sowane said it was important that all Fijians were given equal access to all their services.

“What we have signed today is an agreement that allows our customers to have a one-stop venue in our LTA branches where they can apply for their Police Clearances for LTA related matters, in alignment with the government’s policy of supporting all Fijians and giving them equal access,” he said.

“This is another step towards making life and business easier for all Fijians – particularly, in matters relating to LTA applications, or renewals,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, said the agreement was about better service delivery.

“We acknowledge the Government for bringing this service and getting us together,” he said.

Brigadier-General Qiliho acknowledged the good work done by LTA officers and Police Traffic Unit in enforcing laws on our roads.

“We want to continue that good record – we have Easter coming up, long weekend, and we remind drivers again of the importance of road safety,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.

We don’t want to lose any more lives; we’ve had a handful of fatalities during this year.” Edited by Jonathan Bryce
