Jone Usamate has advised employees of the Labasa depot in Vatunibale to use the newly commissioned conference and training room to help the people of the North.

Yesterday the Minister for Infrastructure commissioned the $80,000 fully air conditioned room  which was named after him.

The room would be used by staff of Fiji Roads Authority, Energy Fiji Limited, Water Authority of Fiji and Ministry of Infrastructure to hold meetings, conferences and trainings.

He encouraged the employees to use and share their knowledge and skills with others so that they could grow as individuals and team to help improve service delivery.

“Make sure that you provide the things that people of the North need whether you are a civil servant or working for a private organisation,” Mr Usamate said.

“I hope a lot of meaningful decisions will take place and action will be done by you and by the people who work under you.”

He said on April 2, he turned 60 years old and seven people in his family had been named after him.

“This is the first time a building has been named after my name and I am happy it will be used for a good purpose where learning will take place,” he said.

He said some names were given as a way to preserve history and he hoped the room would be used to remove the burden from people.
