Nasoko Likely To Miss Super Season

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games gold medallist and Swire Shipping Fijian Drua centre Kalione Nasoko is still undergoing injury rehab and likely to miss out the Super Rugby Pacific 2022 season.
Fijian Drua chief executive officer Brian Thorburn, however, is optimistic that Nasoko is capable to recover in time.
He said yesterday, they have to wait a little longer for the team doctors to decide on Nasoko’s availability.
After recovering from a serious knee injury, Nasoko suffered a freak incident during training where he dislocated his shoulder.
The injury has delayed the Yasawa flyer’s from making his Super Rugby debut.
“Kali has injured his shoulder and he won’t be available to play just yet as he tries to recover from another serious injury,” Thorburn said.
“Most of the injured players like Kitione Taliga, Kali and the others continue to work hard during their rehab so they can recover and have a chance to play. “It’s a tragedy for the whole squad to lose someone with immense talent and good leadership.”
Thorburn added that the Fijian Drua coaching staff and players were looking forward to see Nasoko in action.
“Kali was working tirelessly in terms of getting ready.
“It is just one of those accidents that happen in rugby and it is sad for Kali and for the entire squad as whole.
“We are very actively looking at all the players who are coming off contracts.”
The Drua take a break this Easter weekend before facing the Blues on April 23 at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
