Bogidrau: Paralympics On Track For Saipan, Birmingham

The Easter Athletics competition a stepping stone for a better performance at the Pacific Mini Games, says Fiji Paralympics assistant coach, Jone Bogidrau.
He made the comments during the team’s participation at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, today.
With five of their athletes in England, he said, Team Fiji are on track with their preparations.
Speaking to SUNsports, Bogidrau said the team used the competition for fitness.
“This is part of our preparations for the Pacific Mini Games and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
“We have five of our athletes in England and the remaining six are here.”
He added that their medal prospect in Saipan is discus thrower, Iosefo Rakesa.
“He is our top contender for the Mini Games and he looks set to win a medal,” he said.
“He is one of our experienced athletes who has participated in many overseas competition.
“Preparations have been good so far and his throw distance in javelin and shot put has really improved. We hope he does well during the Mini Games in June and we will see him get gold in that podium.
“Another athlete is Naibili Vatunisolo who will be going to the Commonwealth Games.
“Vatunisolo and Jimoni Toro are the only athletes that will be participating in the Commonwealth games. Toro will be running in the 200 metres while Vatunisolo will be participating in discus.”
