Touch Rugby To Select Pacific Mini Games Teams

The Fiji Touch Rugby Federation will field two teams at the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Mariana from June 17-25.
The Federation is using the final rounds of the Franchise Touch League to select their squad.
There was big turnout of players at the Bidesi Ground in Suva, today, as they hope to impress the national selectors.
Speaking to SUNsports, games coordinator, Maraia Uluimoala said the competition is getting tougher.
“The main purpose for this franchise tournament is to select our national teams,” she said.
“We are looking to take two teams for the Mini Games, one men’s and women’s team.
““We are also selecting a team for the World Youth Championship that is the under-18 and under-20. This event is for next year.” Uluimoala said FTL has reached the final rounds.
“We have completed our first two rounds with the finals happening today.
“We are happy with the turnout and it is good to see fans coming in numbers and also have a new team like West Sonics from Lautoka playing.
This is Sonics first tournament and they are looking good, they missed first two rounds of the league but they are here.
The game itself is improving weekly and the competition is growing as we proceed.”
