Reflect On Plans For Fiji’s Future, Disciplined Forces Told

Members of Fiji’s disciplined forces were reminded during their Easter Thanksgiving Service to reflect on the forces’ plans for Fiji’s future.
The Fiji Police Force and Republic of Fiji Military Forces, including its Naval Division, held a joint Easter Thanksgiving Service on Thursday at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks.
Also present was the Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing, Inia Seruiratu.
Commander of the RFMF, Major- General Ro Jone Kalouniwai said: “We cannot control life, but how we control life is a matter of how we respond to it.”
He also urged them to up their game when it came to service.
“There are deficiencies, but there is potential. There is hope for all of us. Use God’s hope in your lives to carry out our duties,” he said.
In a separate service for the Police force held at the Centenary Methodist Church, Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, reminded them of the meaning of Easter, which was based on humility, love and service.
“This Easter season provides an excellent opportunity for reflection as we re-evaluate the value of our lives as frontline responders. We have come out strongly due to the united approach we demonstrated at the height of the pandemic,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
He highlighted the organisation’s journey through the COVID-19 pandemic as a classic example of unity triumphing during extreme situation.
“The role we play as custodians of the law in nation-building demands integrity, sacrifice and a united approach. It is our service to others.
“When we diligently serve others at our expense, we are serving God. This is the great story behind Easter and the Cross of Calvary”
