The Fiji Football fraternity is mourning the loss of Bal Krishna, father of Digicel Fiji captain Roy Krishna and former Labasa/Nadi rep Krishneel Krishna.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said its board members, and the football fraternity, are in mourning.

Patel acknowledged the valuable contribution by the national skipper Krishna to the football arena.

He added that the entire fraternity is saddened to learn about Bal Krishna’s passing away in his sleep in Lautoka on Sunday.

“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family, and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rests in peace,” said Patel.

“The late Krishna was 63 and always promoted his son’s to be involved in football locally and internationally,” he said.

SUNsports have been reliably informed that the funeral will be held in Lautoka.

The date is yet to be confirmed as the family awaits the arrival of Roy’s siblings from Australia and New Zealand.

None of the family members was able to comment on their loss.
