80% Students Attendance For First Week Of School

Eighty per cent of students attended the first week of school for the 2022 academic year.
The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts recorded this attendance in schools around the country, according to Permanent Secretary Angela Jokhan.
She said the attendance had actually been quite good, though there was a one week break to prepare students for the next academic year.
“The first week was a nice short week and it will be interesting to see what it will be like after this week because this is another nice short week,” she said.
“More students will be in schools this week as the new academic year rolls out.”
New Curriculum Feedback
Ms Jokhan said teachers had welcomed the removal of exams for Years One to Three and had given positive feedback on the engagement of student-teacher learning in the first week of school for 2022.
“We have had a lot of responses from teachers who are somehow relieved because they have time to prepare and time with their students. This is exactly what we wanted,” she said.
