Fijian-born Kiwi Kumar Invests $70K in Restaurant

Confidence in the Fijian Government motivated Fijian born to open his first restaurant in Tavua.
AFC Fried Chicken founder/director, Ashutosh Kumar, has invested $70,000 to set up the eatery.
Mr Kumar said AFC serves unique and different dishes including a variety of dishes such as pizzas, fried chicken, jerk chicken, Asian dishes, burgers, and fish.
He said that he fancied restaurant businesses and hoped to bring a slice of New Zealand cuisine to his hometown.
“We’re looking to further expand to other locations in future with our lovely customer support,” Mr Kumar, who lives in New Zealand,
said.
“Our vision is to offer reasonably priced quality food, served quickly, in an attractive and clean surrounding.
“The confidence in the Fijian government gives me the big boost to venture into my dream restaurant.”
The restaurant is currently employing five locals and with future growth and expansion, more jobs be made available.
“AFC gives customers the most priority.”
“Customer relationship and feedback is important for us, and we really appreciate their comments,” he said.
“We are working on more unique dishes; our pizzas and chicken are really famous according to our customers’ reviews.”
About Mr Kumar
Mr Kumar, 22, is based in New Zealand is an aircraft engineer.
He was born in Tavua.
He went to Tavua Primary School and then Xavier College, where he was the headboy.
He completed his Aeronautical Engineering EASA level 5, part 147 specialized in Avionics at the Air New Zealand Aviation Institute in Christchurch back in 2019.
