Schools COVID-19 Safety Protocols Still In Place

COVID-19 safety protocols in schools are still in place, says the Minister for Education Premila Kumar.
Ms Kumar during her visit to the Northern Division said heads of schools and teachers were encouraged to continue with the protocols.
She said since the new school year began last Monday (April 11), there have been no reports of COVID-19 cases.
“The COVID-19 safety protocols such as maintaining social distance, hand washing, sanitising, clear ventilation in classrooms and having a sick bay remains except for wearing of masks,” Ms Kumar said.
“Children can play sports or move around in school without wearing a mask.”
She said if at any time there would be a COVID-19 case, then teachers and heads of schools were aware of the procedures to follow.
Meanwhile, Ms Kumar visited Taveuni yesterday where she had a talanoa session with teachers at Taveuni Central Primary School.
Today, she is expected to attend the prefect induction event at South Taveuni High School and Bucalevu Secondary School.
