Ten teams from five netball associations will take part in the PacificAus Sports Fiji Netball Youth Championship starting tomorrow at the Vodafone Arena.

The teams are from the Suva, Nasinu, Nadroga, Nadi and Lautoka.

The youth age group is from 16-20

Netball Fiji CEO Vivian Koster said, ‘Netball Fiji is able to build its high performance programme through the support we receive from the PacificAus Sports programme.”

The Youth Championship is one part of that build, according to Koster.

“It is an opportunity for our athlete to test themselves against their peers and put their hands up to selectors for the Fiji 21 squad and the Fiji Pearls squads,” she said.

“The tournament is also part of our long term preparations for the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup.

“Fiji finished fourth at the last World Youth Cup in Botswana, and we aim to equal or better that performance,” she added.

In a press release yesterday Netball Fiji acknowledges the hard work of its members in preparing their teams for the tournament, and excited to see the competition over the two days.

The competition runs from 11am-7:30pm tomorrow and 10am-4:30pm on Saturday.

Entry fees are $5 for adults and $3 for children (12 and under).

PacificAus Sports is a programme funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in partnership with Netball Australia.
