No Potential Cyclone Forecasted

The chances of cyclones forming in the remaining days of the 2021-2022 cyclone season are low.
This was confirmed by the Fiji Meteorological Services acting director, Terry Atalifo.
“The likelihood of a tropical cyclone (TC) forming in our region or affecting Fiji in the next five days – as of today – is very low and a similar outcome is likely for the rest of the cyclone season,” he said.
Fiji’s cyclone season is from November to April every year. The six-month period is when cyclones can be very devastating to communities.
There were four to six cyclones forecasted for the current season.
So far, only one cyclone had hit the country – a Category One tropical cyclone named Cody.
“We do not anticipate any severe weather to affect Fiji in the next seven days,” he said.
However, he urged Fijians to keep up to date with the weather information as weather patterns could change anytime.
Fiji has 8 days left until the cyclone season ends.
