Organisers of the annual Sunny West Carnival Bowls 2022 have confirmed that the tournament will be staged in August at the Nadi Sports and Social Club.

Tournament co-ordinator David Aitcheson said like in the past years they are getting overseas teams to participate.

“We also want more local teams to participate as well,” Aitcheson said.

He said the week-long international bowling competition supports the concept of sports tourism.

“Since this tournament started 10 years ago it has attracted bowlers from New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa.

Teams participate in mixed pairs and fours discipline which lasts for six days. The cash prizes have been an attraction.”
Aitcheson added that overseas players always enjoy our beautiful weather, local hospitality and they always promised to return the following year.

The last two years the tournament was not held because of COVID-19.”

He thanked the Suva and Latuoka bowling clubs for organising strong business house competitions.

“That makes our numbers go up. We want to see more players come in to be part of that too.”

Meanwhile, the Consumers Supermarket businesshouse bowls tournament 2022 gets underway May 18. It will be for five weeks.
Nadi Bowls’ official, Sanjeet Sen, confirmed that the discipline is fours and each team is to pay $120. The reporting time at 6pm and entry closes on May 10.
