Naag Temple Members Act Fast To Prevent Burglary

Swift action by the Naag Mandir (temple) manager and members prevented an alleged attempted burglary incident in Labasa on Friday night.
Manager Dhiren Chand said the alleged thieves were able to enter the premises from the back entrance of the temple after they damaged the security grill of one of the windows.
Mr Chand claimed that the culprits tried to break the temple collection money bank, but it was impossible.
He said they informed Police immediately after they were informed by a nearby shop owner that he could hear some loud noise at the temple.
“Police were quick in responding to the report, however, those alleged fled the scene.”
Mr Chand said no money or belongings were stolen since the temple money bank was made of steel.
He said this was the third time their temple had a break-in.
“The suspects who breached the temple premises last time, were apprehended by Police, however, no money was recovered,” he said.
“I have a humble request to all residents and people who are planning to attempt another robbery, to please observe the religious belief of Hindus and not indulge in religious break-ins,” he added.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said an investigation was ongoing.
