Veteran Rams Cleaning Services Suva football midfielder Ravinesh Karan Singh was the toast of their 2-1 win over Safe Logistics Nadroga at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, yesterday.

Singh scored in injury time as Nadroga had equalised from a Ato Yankson goal.

Suva were held to a 0-0 draw at halftime as their goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva worked overtime to keep them in the game.

Backed by their vocal supporters, Nadroga came close to scoring on a number of occassion.

In the 75th minute Drudru broke away from the defence and placed the ball past a diving Nadroga goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca.

The win has extended Suva’s lead on the points table as second placed Rewa did not play this weekend.

Nalaubu shines in Blues win

Meanwhile, defending DPL champions Lautoka beat Tailevu/Naitasiri 2-1 in their clash at Churchill Park.

National football striker Sairusi Nalaubu scored the first goal in the second minute as they led 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half he slotted in the second goal in the 52nd minute.

Tailevu/Naitasiri pulled a goal back in the 75th minute through Rusiate Qio.

Lautoka coach Anginesh Prasad congratulate Tailevu/Naitasiri for their gallant performance.

“We defended well but there is a lot of work that needs to be done,” he said.

Prasad said the team need to improve on their freekicks and corner kicks before their next game against Ba.

Tailevu/Naitasiri coach Priyant Manu said they need to make use of their goal scoring chances.

“We got more than five chances and against a top team and if we miss those chances it will cost us,” he said.

“We are performing well but the results are not in our favour so we need to rectify some of our mistakes.

“We need to work on our finishing so that come the Labasa game we are all prepared to win that one.”
