Win For My Sister: Tuivuna

Fiji Golf Club professional golfer, Tomasi Tuivuna, is giving part of his $4000 winning prizemoney to his sister Losalini Cava, who is suffering from cancer.
Tuivuna won the first ever RC Manubhai Fiji Golf Open at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva, yesterday.
Speaking to SUNsports, the 40-year-old said he was playing for his sister.
“I came out here for a purpose, I was not coming for the win,” Tuivuna said.
“I dedicate the win to my sister and hope this win will put a smile on her face.
“Arriving here this morning I thought about her as she recently suffered a stroke that nearly ended her life.
“Tomorrow (today) I’ll be travelling to Savusavu to visit her and give her some money.
“She needs it more than I do because her health is important and I’d love to see her recover.
“I want to thank the Lord for this win and the sponsors RC Manubhai for the opportunity to sponsor the event.
“It’s good to win the first ever RC Manubhai Fiji Golf Open here in Suva.”
Tuivuna indicated that he is also preparing for the Woodstock Golf Open in Nadi.
“Golf is a game of patience so we need to be cool and focused.
“I will have to work hard to remain consistent and focused in the tournaments ahead.”
Hussain prepares for Pacific Mini Games
Abid Hussain continued his dominance in the local golf competition by winning the amateur category of the RC Manubhai Fiji Open tournament at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
The Denarau Club golfer shot one under par to win the event.
Speaking to SUNsports, Hussain said the win was vital for his preparations for the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Mariana.
“I have been winning since 2018 and it has been good,” he said.
“This win was a bit tough because this year there’s a lot young players playing.
“I’m using this competition to prepare for the (Pacific) Mini Games.
“I’ll have to work hard if I’m going to win gold at the Mini Games.”
Hussian said preparations are going well and he should soon be in top form
