By November 30 last year, 99.72 per cent of the total workforce were fully vaccinated, while 99.75 per cent had received their first dose of COVID- 19 vaccine.

This was highlighted yesterday by the Assistant Minister for Employment, Productivity, and Industrial Relations, Alvick Maharaj. He was speaking during the opening of the 2022 World Day for Safety and Health at work workshop at the Civic Centre in Suva.

The assistant minister said this was according to the COVID-19 compliance audit conducted by the Ministry of Employment to 17,070 workplaces in the formal and informal sector.

He also acknowledged the stakeholders for rising to the required standard in protecting the workplaces and workers for the past two years.

“In the past 50 years, Fiji has managed to overcome many extraordinary obstacles and with the invasion of the COVID-19 pandemic, has bounced back from its economic shocks stronger than ever,” he said.

“We recovered and overcame these obstacles as a nation because of our working together.”
