New Provincial Office Starts Building Soon

The construction of the new Cakaudrove Provincial Office will start in two weeks’ time.
This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs and Board chief executive officer Pita Tagicakirewa. He said the new office was funded by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs and was worth $671,000.
Mr Tagicakirewa said the plans and construction of the building would be carried out by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
“It is a double story building and will feature offices and a conference room. The provincial office is sitting on leased land,” he said.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, while officiating the ground breaking ceremony in Savusavu yesterday, said at the end of this year the provincial office would be open for business and serve the people in Cakaudrove.
“I remember back in 2017 when the Provincial Council Office was burnt to the ground. I also remember later that year, during a Talanoa session in Nakobo Village, that someone asked if the Government could assist in rebuilding the Provincial Office. I said of course. In 2019, during the opening of your Provincial Council meeting in this same village, we reiterated the commitment I made in 2017. Today, that promise becomes a reality.”
