Squads To Be Retained For Zone Meets

Two months is too short for some schools to organise zone meets following the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts approval to have the Cokes Games on July 9.
Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association, President Marika Uluinaceva said yesterday time was too short to plan for such an event in preparation for the biggest sports event.
The 2021 Coke Games was cancelled because of the COVID-19 restrictions.
“Some schools will find it hard to plan since time is short,” Uluinaceva said.
“We were supposed to receive their list (zone meets) last week but some schools are yet to do their planning.”
“Some schools might not be able to have their zones; they just might retain their squad from last year and organise challenges to consider
newcomers to schools.”
“New students might just need to challenge those already on their list and then prepare for their zone meet.”
Uluinaceva said the finalised dates for the zone meets will be finalised this week giving time for athletes to prepare for the Coke Games.
“There are no new zones, the number remain the same but there is a possibility that some will not be participating this year.
“June is around the corner, it is too soon for some but the Cokes is back.”
