Lady Lions Thrash Tailevu Naitasiri, Remains on Top Spot

The undefeated Labasa women’s football team are still on top of the Digicel Women’s Super League after thrashing Tailevu Naitasiri 16-0 in Round 5 clash at Subrail Park, Labasa today.
Labasa are now on11 points, a point better than Ba.

Five players contributed to the haul of 17 goals scored.
The players were strikers Cema Nasau and Sofi Diyalowai, Jotivini Tabua, Adi Anasimeci and Louisa Simmons.
Labasa coach, Arthur Simmons, was satisfied with the victory.
Simmons said they had to change their game pattern to suit the counter their opponents.
“They were occasions when the girls did slack off by committing silly areas,” he said.
The no-nonsense coach said there was still room for improvement such as ball retention, defense and finishing off goal scoring opportunities.
Tailevu Naitasiri coach, Laisani Mataele, said the game was a tough encounter for them.
However, she applauded the effort of her young brigade for being competitive till the final whistle.
Mataele said they continue to treat each game as a learning process where players were getting accustomed to the basics of the game.
“We only have three experienced players from previous seasons in the side,” she added.
Tailevu sits last on the women’s standings with a single point.
