Tuiloa Gets Nod For FRU Board Of Directors

Suva Rugby Union secretary Tevita Tuiloa is the latest inclusion to the Fiji Rugby Union board of directors.
This was confirmed by chief executive officer John O’Connor after today’s Annual General Meeting at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
As per FRU constitution two serving board members Jay White and Daniel Whippy have served their four- year term on the board.
“As per constitution its rotation basis. They were eligible for another term if they were nominated,” O’Connor said.
“Only one nomination was received from the capital city union, it was Tuiloa.
“Whippy was re-nominated. I want to thank director Jay White for his term on the board, for his sacrifice and hard work and brining commercial knowledge onto the board. We will keep in touch with him.
“He will be eligible for re-election sometime next year, in the next rotation,” he added.
“We welcome Te on board and look forward to work closely with him and continue to push boundaries and lift Fiji Rugby to another level.”
Whippy was re-nominated into the board while White has been replaced by Tuiloa.
Financial Report
Amid COVID-19 FRU was able to achieve a small surplus of $245K compared to $280K last year.
“That’s a good achievement,” O’Connor said.
“We had prioritizing of funds into the Olympics last year and the Flying Fijians, so that was a good achievement in our financial performance,” he added.
Other issues raised were of grounds request by some provincial rugby unions and the success of the Olympic sevens team, the participation of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and the Super Rugby Pacific and the Fijiana Drua’s Super W win.
