The public are being warned not to resort to self-proclaimed medical practitioners who claim to be able to remove the COVID vaccine from the body using non-medical procedures.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services made the warning following information received about a group of men charging members of the public money, claiming that they could remove the vaccine.

Responding to the incident, Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete explained that the vaccine initiated an immune response of new soldiers to fight COVID-19 that is present in the whole body and not only in the arm.

“Only a certified health practitioner with a license can perform a procedure on a patient with a documented consent,” Dr Waqainabete said.

“From the pictures posted widely on social media about this practice, we are concerned that the procedures used may cause infection, sepsis, potential and even life threatening outcomes.”

“This practice must be stopped and people need to stop resorting to these non-clinical practices.”
