Staying in contention for the Digicel Pre­mier League title remains a priority for the Setareki Hughes captained- Rewa football side.

Their campaign remained on track as they beat Lautoka 2-0 at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday.

What happened: Both team started well as they tried to score an early goal. Both teams missed numerous scoring chances.

Halftime: Lautoka 0-0 Rewa.

Rewa began to gain the upper hand in the second half as they brought in their impact players. The hosts began to tire and in the 77th minute nippy striker super sub Abbu Za­hid tapped the ball past Lautoka goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua after receiving a cross from striking partner Rusiate Matererega, who also came off the bench.

With a 1-0 lead, Rewa mounted the pressure on the Lautoka defence and in the 82nd min­ute Samuela Nabenia who came in to replace Patrick Joseph rifled the ball past Biuvanua for their second goal.

The result sees the Delta Tigers moved up to second spot of the DPL points table with 21 points, behind league leaders, Suva (23). Ba are third spot with 18 points after.
